The Project of the History of Black Writing 1983-Present

"The writing of literary history, of course, must cross disciplinary boundaries, for it cannot otherwise provide nuanced reports on the indeterminacy of texts. The adequacy of the literary history is challenged by the recovery of forgotten or lost texts and the acquistion of new insights. ... Thus literary history is always a work-in-progress."
